Kerala sees 7 farmer suicides in 2 months; Pinarayi Vijayan to call bank managers to help with debts

Idukki: Kerala farmers lost their house along with their hope completely during the Kerala floods in August 2018. Reports say that in the past two months, seven farmers have committed suicide in Idukki due to debt. 

Regarding this incident, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to call bank managers to discuss possible measures to support the farmers. The government has decided to increase the bonus given to farmers as part of paddy procurement from next season.
