Puttur: People of Narimogaru village, Udupi, Karnataka, gathered in large numbers and staged protest against Bindu packaged drinking water company, alleging the factory of drilling more borewells when the entire region is reeling under water crisis. There is no water to drink in the region, but this factory is drilling more borewells to make packaged drinking water. The company not only sells packaged drinking water but also products like Bindu jeera masala drink, Sipcon and Snakup. The protest was withdrawn after tahsildar Pradeep Kumar warned the company and asked officials concerned to take necessary action against the guilty. However, the factory representative has said that they were cleaning the borewells using machines and were not drilling new borewells.
