Bengaluru: MB Patil, the Congress MLA from Babaleshwar (Karnataka) and a previous home minister under the HD Kumaraswamy-led coalition government said that defections would continue unabated. He added that such defections would take place in other states also, just in the way it took place in Karnataka.

On the issue of rebel MLAs being taking back into the party fold, he added that former chief minister Siddaramaiah had openly announced on the floor of the House that they would not be taken back, and he even refused to take their calls when two rebel MLAs tried speaking to him.

It might be recalled that Kumaraswamy failed to prove his majority on the floor of the House and later resigned on Tuesday (July 23). As many as 15 MLAs from Congress and JD(S) cut ties with parties for various reasons.
