Sirsi: Income Tax officials on Friday conducted a raid at the residence of Shakeel Sheikh, a close aide of JD(S) candidate Anand Asnotikar on Friday in Sirsi, Karnataka. Asnotikar is contesting from the Uttara Kannada constituency for Lok Sabha election. Shakeel is a trader of second-hand vehicles in Sirsi town.
Five Income Tax officials came in a car from Hubballi to Sirsi and raided the house of Shakeel Shaik. According to sources, the raid was carried out based on reports that Asnotikar and the JD(S) have accumulated money in the house of Shakeel. Local police assisted the I-T officials during the raid.
It is alleged that Shaik, who is the financier of Asnotikar for the election, had distributed money to party workers. Based on this complaint, the I-T officials raided and recovered important documents and bank details.
