Indian Navy finds beedi leaves weighing over 451 kg, snuff products floating in sea

Talaimannar: Navy personnel found beedi leaves weighing over 451 kg and 5,300 vials of snuff powder from seas off the coast of Talaimannar. The seizure occurred when naval personnel attached to the north-central naval command spotted 11 sacks floating in the sea during patrol. 

According to reports, among the 11 sacks, four contained beedi leaves weighing 451 kg while 5,300 vials of snuff powder were recovered from seven other sacks.  The seized items were handed over to the Customs Department at Jaffna for further investigation.
