Idukki wildfire: 1,000 hectares of forest land destroyed

Idukki: Wildfire in Idukki, Kerala, caused large scale destruction in Vattavada. According to sources nearly 1,000 hectares of forest land was destroyed in Vattavana. The fire was first spotted at Pazhathottam near Vattavada, which later spread to Oorkad near Swamiyarala Colony, Anamudi Shola, Pampadum Shola park and Kurinji Sanctuary. According to sources, the fire was allegedly caused by the land mafia, who wanted their property to be excluded from Kurinji Sanctuary.
