Bengaluru: BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa was severely criticised for his comment that the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) air strikes on Pakistan would help the party win 22 seats in Karnataka in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. However, on Thursday, the former Karnataka chief minister made a U-turn by stating that no political parties could use air strikes for their party's benefit.

Speaking to reporters, Yeddyurappa said, "There is no question of using it (air strikes) for elections. Sushma Swaraj had called for an all-party meeting and explained it there. Rajnath Singh had also called for a meet and everyone had welcomed it including Rahul Gandhi. Where is the question of taking political mileage here?"
