Gadag: A quack claiming that he would administer Ayurvedic medicine to diseases like cancer and HIV has been arrested. He has been identified as Lokesh Tekal. For the last fortnight or so, Lokesh had even set up an Ayurvedic centre called Agastya Prakriti Treatment Centre in Mahalingpura village of Gadag, Karnataka. Going by the fame he had created for himself, people from all over the state used to give him a visit. But at the same time, several people began to doubt his genuineness. And then, they lodged a complaint with the district Ayush department. Based on the complaint, Sujatha Patil, an official in the department raided his centre, interrogated him and handed him over to the police.

During the interrogation, it came to light that Lokesh had forged several medical documents. With his convincing skills, he had managed to win over the confidence of the people. Hailing from Kolar, Lokesh had opened another Ayurvedic treatment centre in Bijapur. And, in an obvious bid to cover up his nefarious activities, he had even employed three BAMS graduates. When the raid took place, it came to light that Lokesh would prescribe several random and unauthenticated medicines. The officials have confiscated them all.
