Gadag: Businessmen woke up to a shock in Karnataka’s Gadag as JCBs began demolishing their shops built on a government land. The land, worth crores of rupees, had been leased way back in the year 1889, for a period of 100 years. But even after 25 years of the lease ended, businessmen continued to conduct business. When the court took up the issue, it ruled in favour of the Karnataka government. So as per the orders of the court, the process of reclaiming the land has begun, which will go on for two days. The police department has deployed 500 constables, 400 pourakarmikas are also lending a hand in the reclamation.
