Chennai: A 32-year-old journalist, his 28-year-old wife and 59-year-old mother were found dead at their Chennai residence in Tamil Nadu after a fridge exploded in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday (June 27).
The trio was unable to escape the building and suffocated to death. The journalist was identified as Prasanna.
The matter came to light when the house help knocked on their door only to receive no response from them. She then used the help of neighbours to break open the door to find all three of them dead and covered in ash.
Police and the fire department reached the spot and are looking into the cause of the explosion. The three bodies have been sent to a government hospital in Chennai’s Chromepet for autopsy.
