Five charred to death as auto-rickshaw hits electric pole in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: In a tragic incident, an auto-rickshaw hit an electric pole resulting in five persons, who were travelling in it, being burnt alive and six others severely injured. The accident happened near Cheruvuru under Balapam panchayat in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, the incident occurred when a group of 13 people was returning to their hometown in an auto-rickshaw from the weekly market in Korukonda. The auto-rickshaw driver lost control and hit the electric pole. The overheard cables snapped and fell on the vehicle.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He spoke to Visakhapatnam collector K Bhaskar and directed him to pay compensation.
