New Delhi: The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) spokesperson lashed out at BJP MP Subramanian Swamy for asking the Centre to stop work on the Kartarpur corridor, linking Indian and Pakistan.

On August 24, Swamy had said that the work on the Kartarpur corridor project should be stopped in the interest of the nation and there should be no talks with Pakistan on any issue. He had said the neighbouring country should not be given any excuse, including the Kartarpur corridor project, for any talk.

Reacting to this, Kulwinder Singh, spokesperson of SGPC said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had initiated the Kartarpur corridor project that makes it possible for the Sikhs to visit their holy place Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur situated in Pakistan. He said that the comment of Swamy had made Sikhs all over the world angry. He appealed to the governments of India and Pakistan to complete the project and open the corridor that will ensure harmony between the people of both the countries.
