Chennai: Students wielding sickles, long knives and machetes, were caught on camera attacking another group of students from Pachaiyappa’s College in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on July 24. The incident has left seven people injured and took place reportedly to show one group’s supremacy over the other with respect to the bus route.

“When the vehicle reached Arumbakkam, a clash broke out between the two groups. One group of students, who were carrying sickles and knives in their bags, began attacking the other group,” an officer said.

A passerby recorded the entire episode on his phone. In the video, one student could be seen getting off the moving bus and running. He was being chased by three persons wielding machetes. The students with weapons were seen attacking the rival gang members. The incident brought traffic to a halt in the area for more than 30 minutes.

Passengers were seen getting off the bus to avoid being caught in the melee. The police were alerted. However, the students managed to flee before the cops could arrive at the spot.
