Cafe Coffee Day owner VG Siddarth missing; search operations intensified in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: Minutes after the Karnataka Police received information about Cafe Coffee Day owner VG Siddarth gone missing, search operations have been undertaken in river Netravati in Mangaluru, Karnataka. It was his driver, who lodged a complaint around midnight on July 29.

Dogs squad has been brought to the spot to find Siddarth. The police suspect that Siddarth may have jumped from the bridge to commit suicide. With the help of fishermen's boats, the police have begun to search the river. The bridge is close to the sea and the rescue officers are waiting for the tide to subside.

Meanwhile, a letter written by Siddarth to his board of directors and employees has surfaced. In the letter dated July 27, Siddarth has apologised to the Cafe Coffee Day family claiming that he let them down. He has also mentioned the pressure he is facing from lenders.

Siddarth is BJP veteran and former Karnataka CM SM Krishna’s son-in-law. While reports say Cafe Coffee Day has loans of over Rs 7,000 crore, the family is in shock.

Politicians to celebrities such as Karnataka CM Yediyurappa, Congress leader MB Patil and Kannada film star Puneeth Rajkumar have visited SM Krishna’s residence in Bengaluru on July 30.
