Delhi: Voices in support of Citizenship Act are been constantly growing with each passing day. Today, refugees who have been residing in India since 2008 rejoiced with the passing of Citizenship Act. About 12 families who fled from Pakistan have been living in Faridabad since 2008. These people said that they would die rather than go back to Pakistan.
Hindu refugees from Pakistan are rejoicing as they said it’s a new beginning of their lives with the implementation of Citizenship Act. Sri Singh, who left Pakistan in 2008 and came to India, hails from the Sikh community. Singh said the Sindh province, which is now part of Pakistan, known as Karachi was where he used to live in the past. Narrating an ordeal, Singh said Hindu daughters were assaulted or they would be troubled to convert to Islam. However, these families fled from Pakistan in 2008 to protect their dignity and religion. Reacting to the Citizenship Amendment Bill, he said that he thanks the Modi government which brought this law and that it has given him a new life. He added that his family had been running from pillar to post for citizenship since he came to India in 2008, but their efforts always went in vain. Now, with the new Act they will get their citizenship and they too will be able to contribute to the development of the country. Singh also stated that if those who are opposing this bill ever go to Pakistan, they will know how many crimes are faced by Hindus in Pakistan. After getting his citizenship, he will forever remain indebted to the Modi government.
