Bengaluru building collapse leaves 1 dead, 6 injured

Bengaluru: Two buildings collapsed in Bengaluru's Pulikeshinagar, leaving 1 person dead and six severely injured. The incident occurred around 6am today (July 10). The deceased has been identified as Sambu Kumar, a native of Bihar. So far eight persons have been rescued from the debris and are being treated at Bowring Hospital. The building was under renovation. Moisture in the soil and weak pillars are said to be the reason behind the collapse. 37 workers, mainly from Bihar,  Rajasthan and Nepal and a family of a Nepali security guard are feared trapped. City corporation officer (East) Ravindra and his team visited the spot and took stock of the situation. Karnataka fire and emergency force, SDRF, NDRF and Karnataka Civil Defence teams are conducting rescue operations.
