At least 200 people recently ransacked houses in Bengal’s Satgachia area, which falls under Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency.
It is alleged that the perpetrators were Muslims and they attacked people from the Hindu community.
The attack started on May 11. It is also said that the incident was at all political but was actually a communal one. The victims belonged from several political parties, including Trinamool.
Heavy police deployment in the area is done to bring the situation under control. There is an uneasy calm in the affected villages.
