Krishna river has been overflowing as Maharashtra is facing heavy rains putting 39 villages on high alert in Karnataka. 16 bridges are inundated, and transportation facilities have been blocked due to Belagavi floods.
Belagavi: Karnataka's Belagavi district is experiencing heavy rainfall for the last few days. More than 16 bridges have been inundated in the floods caused by Krishna river. The roads have been damaged too. Krishna river is overflowing due to heavy rains in Maharashtra. Residents living in the surrounding areas of the river have been moved to safer places. On Tuesday (July 30) alone, Belagavi received 104 mm rainfall. Several areas including Hindalga Road, Samarth Nagar, Maratha Colony, Shastri Nagar, Globe Talkies, etc, remain inundated. Water gushed inside the houses in Samarth Nagar and Angol. Residents also complained of sewage water entering their homes. Harvest activities too have come to a standstill. At least, 39 villages are on high alert in Chikkodi.
