Bandipur tiger reserve catches fire once again in Karnataka

Chamarajanagara: Days after the Bandipur tiger reserve faced severe fire outbreak, miscreants have once again set parts of the forest land on fire on Thursday evening. According to reports, the fire was first noticed behind Serai (resort) in Kundukere range. 

The fire spread to Moolapura village decimating grasslands and shrubs. It took more than two hours for the forest, fire department staff and volunteers to douse the flame. This man-made fire has now consumed approximately 200 acres.

Reports also stated that the forest department has suspended Gopal Swamy Betta range forest officer Puttaswamy and served show cause notice to Kundukere RFO Manjunath.
