It was on July 10, 2019, that the Sikhs For Justice (SJF) was first banned by the Union government. It was declared an unlawful entity, before it was banned for five years. The tribunal headed by Justice D N Patel said that there is evidence which proves that SJF is working in collusion with anti-India entities and forces. The pro-Khalistan groups had coined the term Referendum 2020. The motive was to fight for a separate Punjab nation.
