Babul Supriyo heckled by students at Jadavpur University: BJP stages protest in Kolkata

Kolkata: BJP leaders and members staged a rally in Kolkata after Union minister Babul Supriyo was heckled in Jadavpur University on September 19. Supriyo was shown black flags and was allegedly heckled by a section of students at the University in Kolkata. 

He was visiting the place to address a seminar organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) - the student wing of the RSS. Supriyo was initially stopped from entering the campus for around one-and-half hours by members of two Left-leaning organisations - Arts Faculty Students' Union (AFSU) and Students Federation of India - (SFI), who chanted 'Babul Supriyo Go Back' slogans.

During the protest, Jay Prakash Majumdar, BJP state vice president, said, "He was heckled and beaten up by students of SFI and Naxals. At the same time, the protesting students raised slogans to fight the 'fascist hooliganism in campus'.
