Abhinandan Varthaman was scheduled to be handed over to India by Pakistan at around 2pm on March 1. This was rescheduled to 5pm. However, the Indian pilot walked through the Wagah border post 9pm and entered Indian territory. The district commissioner of Amritsar said that a medical test would be conducted before Abhinandan heads to Delhi. The Indian Air Force received him as thousands of people thronged the area to catch a glimpse of the IAF pilot.
