Thiruvananthapuram: The General Administration Department (GAD) of Kerala has ordered the implementation of a biometric punching system to be developed by SPARK, a payroll software company. This system will be Aadhaar-based as well. According to the order, the new attendance punching system should be implemented in government offices within six months and civil stations in three months.

This kind of system will be introduced in order to increase output of staff, increase efficiency and improve the public delivery machine.

After the installation of the punching software in government offices, employees’ salaries will be determined through entries logged in the system.

Around 5.5 lakh employees will fall under the purview of this system which has already been implemented in the Kerala secretariat.
