60% Of Children Adopted In India Are Girls

The great Indian obsession for male child seems to be declining, if the latest figures of adoptions in India are taken into consideration. Adoption data spanning the last 4 years indicate that Indian couples want to bring home a baby girl, even if it means waiting for as long as 6 years. According to the Child Adoption Resource Authority, as many as 4,027 children – 2,393 of them girls – were adopted in 2018-19 – the highest number of adoptions registered in the country since 2015.
