Southampton: South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris defended his captain Faf du Plessis’ decision to bat first after winning the toss against India in the ICC World Cup 2019 in Southampton on Wednesday (June 5). Du Plessis’ decision backfired as the Proteas were kept to 227/9 and India won by six wickets. Many felt Du Plessis should have bowled first. Even India captain Virat Kohli had said he would have bowled if he had won the toss. Morris said the pitch was “tough” for the entire duration of the match and it wouldn’t have mattered.
