Jakarta: India won six medals on the 13th day of the Asian Games 2018 to equal its highest ever tally in the history of the continent's multi-sport spectacle.

Since the inaugural Asiad in New Delhi in 1951, India's largest medal tally in one edition was in Guangzhou (2010) where the nation won 65 medals (14 gold, 17 silver, 34 bronze).

In the ongoing Games, India matched that tally on Friday. However, it is set to surpass as two more days of action remain and two medals are assured, one each in squash and boxing.

Amit Panghal has reached the men's 49kg boxing final and Indian women have made it to the gold medal match in squash. Also, Indian men's hockey team is set to face Pakistan in the bronze medal match on Saturday.

On Friday, India won three medals in sailing, one each in boxing, squash and hockey to end the day with 65 (13 gold, 23 silver, 29 bronze).

Yet again, India suffered a heartbreak in hockey. This time, the women lost to Japan 1-2 in the final.

Varsha Gautham and Sweta Shervegar won silver in women’s 49er FX sailing event while Varun Thakkar and KC Ganapathy bagged a bronze in men’s 49er races.

Harshita Tomar, the 16-year-old, finished third in Open Laser 4.7 to take the bronze after 12 races at the Indonesia National Sailing Centre.

Later, Amit registered a hard-fought 3-2 win over Philippines' Carlo Paalam to reach the 49kg final on Games debut.

Indian men (Saurav Ghosal, Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu, Ramit Tandon and Mahesh Mangaonkar) lost to Hong Kong 0-2 in squash team semi-final to settle for a bronze.

The women's squash team (Joshna Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal Karthik, Sunayna Kuruvilla and Tanvi Khanna) reached the final as they stunned defending champions Malaysia (Nicol David, Wee Wern Low, Subramaniam Sivasangari, Aifa Azman) 2-0 in the last-four stage.
