Woman dies in government hospital, doctors refuse to take responsibility

Belagavi: A woman was admitted to the government hospital in Athani, Belagavi, Karnataka, for female sterilisation. Surekha Bedarahatti of Konnur in Gokak was admitted to the hospital on November 20. She was taken for surgery, when her condition became serious and she was asked to be taken to Belagavi district hospital. But the Belagavi hospital doctors stated that she was brought dead. The family has alleged negligence by the government doctors of Athani, to which the doctors have reacted that Surekha was alive while being sent to Belagavi hospital and they would not take responsibility for her death. The grief-stricken family is wailing outside the hospital.
