Wild elephant enters village in Tamil Nadu; people panic

Coimbatore: A 25-year-old wild elephant, named Chinnathambi, on Thursday, entered Angalakuruchi village on the Pollachi-Aliyar road near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and the residents were panic-stricken. Thankfully, the elephant did not harm anyone in the village. The Pollachi division forest officials managed to chase the tusker back into the reserve forest.

Earlier, the residents of Chinna Thadagam forest range complained to the forest officials that Chinnathambi had completely damaged their crops, and urged the officials to relocate the tusker. Based on the complaint, the forest department officials captured and relocated the elephant on January 25.
