Jaunpur: Eyebrows have been raised over police’s inaction in a case where several women were mercilessly beaten by goons hired by a person of power.

In a shocking video from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, some men were seen beating women with huge sticks. According to reports, the incident happened in Korkagahana village of Saraykhwaja police station area of the district.

The victims claim that Dinkchand Sonkar, who is the brother of Karanjalka block chief and Machchli Sahar’s MLA Jagdish Sonkar, came with his henchmen to capture their land. When they protested against it, they were beaten up.

Though a case has been registered against Sonkar in the local police station, no arrests have been made ever after a week.

Not only this, the police have been accused of keeping mum even after the video, showing the chief ordering his men to beat up the women black and blue, was handed over to them

The police till now have just filed a lawsuit and when asked if any arrests were made or not, the cops started giving excuses of the legal process.
