Thiruvananthapuram:  Administrative Reform Commission chairman VS Achuthanandan is dissatisfied with the delayed action against PK Sasi, the MLA who is facing a sexual abuse complaint lodged by a DYFI woman leader. He has also expressed his concerns in appointing Sasi as the march captain of the party.

A DYFI woman leader raised a sexual harassment complaint against CPI(M) MLA (Shoranur) Sasi in early September. The complaint letter was submitted to CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury. The letter stated that Sasi tried to grab her after calling her to Mannarkad area committee office.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Police have explained that a sexual abuse case cannot be charged against state MLA Sasi based on the complaint raised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) woman leader. They have submitted a report pointing this to DGP Loknath Behra.

A case cannot be charged since the DYFI leader has not given an official complaint to the police. The police had met her directly, and even then she did not give a written complaint officially.

The state committee meeting held on Friday had not discussed this matter. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the issue would be discussed on Monday. A committee meeting would be held on Monday. The state secretariat has approved the report submitted by AK Balan and PK Sreemathy, who were appointed to investigate the issue. The party is expected to settle the matter at the meeting.

However, several leaders of the party have indicated that action would be taken against the MLA if the complaint is found to be valid. Some leaders have proposed a demand that the party should take action against the MLA as soon as possible.

Sasi has come forward denying these allegations against him. He said to the media that a political conspiracy is behind this allegation and he is ready to face the investigation.
