Bengaluru: Additional forces, including the paramilitary troopers, have been deployed in Bengaluru, Kodagu, Mandya, Mysuru and Mangaluru (across the southern region of Karnataka) to prevent untoward incidents and disruption of normal life during Tipu Jayanti. The Bharatiya Janata Party and various right-wing organisations are against this. About 200 platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), City Armed Police and City Armed Forces (CAR) and 6,000 Home Guards have been deployed in sensitive areas till Saturday morning. Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy will not participate in the controversial Tipu Jayanti celebrations and has cited health reasons for his absence. Deputy chief minister G. Parameshwara, who is to grace the event, is also skipping the celebrations as he is not in town.
