Tamil Nadu: Will BJP look to tie-up with AIADMK and Rajinikanth to make in-roads in the state

Tamil Nadu is in love with all things Tamil. Be it food, clothing or even the parties that rule over them. This is the reason why regional parties like AIADMK and DMK have ruled Tamil Nadu's political arena for over 50 years, relegating national parties like Congress and BJP to mere support providers to the ruling parties. However, with the cult figures of AIADMK's J Jayalalithaa and DMK's Karunanidhi no longer an active part of the state's politics, BJP will look to make in-roads in Tamil Nadu. AIADMK thinks Rajinikanth is their best bet to beat DMK in the state. AZ Research Partners' survey reveals that if Rajinikanth and Prime Minister Modi campaign together in Tamil Nadu, 13% voters will support the coalition and 31% will moderately support the union.
