Tamil Nadu prison guard attempts suicide over alleged harassment by senior officials

Kovilpatti: A guard at Tamil Nadu's Kovilpatti sub jail attempted suicide soon after coming out of the prison premises after duty. The victim is identified as Karuppusamy who consumed pesticides and fell unconscious. A passerby noticed Karuppusamy and informed the police officials who shifted him to Kovilpatti government hospital for medical treatment. According to sources, the victim was under stress as his senior officials harassed him and also did not grant him leave.
