Tamil Nadu: 1-year old elephant calf reunites with mother

Coimbatore: A year-old male elephant calf that was found abandoned in an agricultural field near Tamil Nadu's Mettupalayam has been reunited with its herd on Saturday.

Farm workers noticed the calf on their agricultural land and alerted the forest officials. The Mettupalayam range officers reached the spot and guided the calf to the reserve forest, where the calf's mother was waiting for him along with the rest of the herd.

Forest officials stated that the calf had been left behind by its herd that raided plantain and maize farms. "The calf wasn't able to cross the elephant proof trench near the agricultural land," said a forester.
