Swami Agnivesh was assaulted again on Friday at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in Delhi. The 78-year-old social activist was on his way to join the funeral of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Some people came from behind and thrashed him. He was beaten with slippers. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters are located on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.

Arya Samaj leader Agnivesh is a politician and former member of Legislative Assembly of Haryana. This is the second incident of his manhandling within two months.

Earlier, on July 17, he was attacked by a mob in Pakur, Jharkhand. He had blamed BJP Yuva Morcha and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for the incident. Agnivesh said they had falsely accused him of supporting cow slaughter and beaten him up without any concrete proof. Later, he demanded a judicial probe into the matter. His allegations have not been established yet.
