Six members of a family commit suicide in Karnataka

Koppal: A Karnataka family has allegedly committed mass suicide in Koppal taluk. Shekhariah Beednal, who was living in Methgal village of Koppal taluk, and his family took the extreme step which has left the villagers in shock. The police have begun the investigation into the case. They said, “prima facie it seems to be a case of mass suicide as the family was reeling under financial hardship.”

It is alleged that 42-year-old Shekhariah made his wife and four children drink poison and later hanged himself. His wife is Jayamma (39) and children Basamma (23), Gauramma (20), Savithri (18) and Parvathi (16).

Out of the four daughters, two were reportedly married. However, they were allegedly facing problems with their respective husbands’ families. Shekhariah's family was also having problems with his relatives. As per sources, Shekhariah was in debts after taking loads from banks.
