Forest department staffer trampled to death by elephant at Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border

Kolar: A wild elephant attacked a forest staffer and trampled him. The incident occurred at Shoolagiri forest area that borders Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Marappa from Tamil Nadu. He was trying to shoo the elephants away to the forest in a bid to stop them from entering nearby villages, when an elephant attacked him. Marappa was admitted to the hospital but did not respond to treatment and died. Authorities have burst crackers and kept the elephants away from the village borders for now.
