A fire broke out in the wee hours of the morning at a hotel in New Delhi. So far nine people have been reported dead, 35 people have been rescued and 11 people have been injured so far.
New Delhi: A fire that broke out in the fourth floor of Hotel Arpit Palace, Karol Bagh, New Delhi has left 17 people dead. Several others have been left injured.
Search and rescue operations are still underway at the hotel. The cause of the fire has not been officially stated, but a short circuit is suspected.
Delhi Fire services department received a call at around 4:30am and quickly rushed to the spot but the fire had already spread to other floors. Fire was seen blazing out of the hotel and smoke billowed out of the building until 7am.
The fire was eventually contained, and a cooling operation was initiated.
