Namakkal Anjaneyar temple priest falls from elevated platform; dies

Namakkal: On Sunday, a priest from Anjaneyar temple in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, suffered severe head injury after he fell from an 11-feet elevated platform while performing special puja for the 18-feet idol of Lord Hanuman.

The priest, Venkatesh (53), lost his balance and fell from the platform after garlanding the idol offered by a devotee in the temple. This entire incident was captured through a devotee's mobile phone.

The priest was rushed to a private hospital in Salem. He suffered internal bleeding. Emergency surgery was done to drain the blood in his brain, the official said. Unfortunately, he succumbed to injuries.
