Moral police beat up Kerala Class 12 student; victim critical

Kollam: In a recent incident of moral policing, a Plus Two (Class 12) student was beaten up by a vigilante group. The victim Ranjith, is a native of Arinalloor, Kollam. The incident occurred on Thursday night. The police are yet to arrest any of the accused, who are absconding.

The group attacked the boy for allegedly harassing a young girl. They went to Ranjith's house, took him outside and beat him brutally.

However, police have said that after primary investigation the boy was found to be innocent of the alleged harassment.

Ranjith was first admitted to Kollam Taluk Hospital and was later shifted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram for better treatment. Doctors have said that Ranjith's condition is critical as he suffered head injuries.
