While many within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are surprised with this step, sources say Mamata will be consciously seen celebrating Durga Puja at multiple venues this year to change her image in Bengal where Hindutva outfits have grown in stature in recent years.
Kolkata: After battling the serious charge of minority appeasement, it seems Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is emulating Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is undergoing a pro-Hindu image makeover. Just as Rahul has been going temple-hopping in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Banerjee too read the 'chandi path', which is an integral part of Mahalaya that is recited to welcome Goddess Durga. She later inaugurated a Durga Puja pandal at Kolkata's Bagbazar.
