Low-intensity bomb blast in Assam before Durga Puja, 4 injured

At least four people were injured in a blast when a bomb went off near Sukrwswar Ghat, Panbazar area in Guwahati city today. Top police officials rushed to the spot on learning of the incident.  The injured, including a woman, have been rushed to a hospital.

The injured have been identified as Kalpajyoti Talukdar from  Bamunimaidam, Taifuddin Ahmed from Hatigaon and a couple — Naru Das and Bonita Das — that was on a motorcycle when the bomb went off. All the victims have sustained minor injuries. They have been admitted in the MNCH hospital in Guwahati.

A probe has been initiated and is at a preliminary stage. "Security in Guwahati and places nearby has been heightened immediately," said Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia.
