Leopard cub in check-in baggage rescued in Chennai Airport, passenger arrested

Chennai: A man trying to smuggle a leopard cub in his baggage from Bangkok was caught at Chennai Airport. The month-old cub was rescued by the customs officials. The accused has been identified as Kaja Moideen, 45, who worked at Kuala Lumpur has been arrested. The cub was examined by veterinarians and was taken to Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai. Two videos of the rescued cub have been released by customs officials. The officials grew suspicious as the man hurriedly attempted to exit the Airport after collecting his baggage. While he was being frisked, officials hear faint muffled cries from his baggage. Moideen said that he was supposed to hand the baggage over to someone in the airport, but no one turned up. Moideen was arrested and was handed over to forest authorities.
