Kerala Youth Congress workers’ murder: Ramesh Chennithala lashes out at ruling CPM

Kanhangad: Kerala Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala lashed out at the ruling CPI(M) and expressed his strong protest against the murders of two Youth Congress workers.

Two Youth Congress workers were hacked to death in a conflict with CPM at Kallyot, Periya near Kasaragod in Kerala. The victims were identified as Kallyot natives Kripesh, 21 and Sarath Lal,27.

At a press conference on February 18,  Ramesh Chennithala said that the CPI(M) is trying to destroy the Congress party using its party’s goons. He also said the Youth Congress workers were killed without any provocation and the workers were not involved in any criminal activities. Chennithala also said the government should identify the culprits and arrest them as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the Congress alleged that CPI(M) activists were behind the attack. The police said they had launched an investigation.

The incident happened at around 8:30 PM on Sunday. The victims, who were on a motorcycle, were hacked to death by a group of persons that came in a car. Kripesh died on the way to the hospital and Sarath passed away on his way to Mangaluru, Karnataka. The Youth Congress has called for a state-wide hartal on Monday from 6 AM to 6 PM.
