Kerala: Arrest George if he doesn't appear in court in person, says Women’s Commission

Kochi: National Women’s Commission has summoned PC George, MLA, who made defamatory comments against the nun allegedly abused sexually by Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal.

Commission chairman Rekha Sharma had sought action against George, who condemned the nun at a press conference held in Kottayam on Sunday.

The commission has collected the video recording of his speech and based on this, she summoned him. Further action will be taken after listening to George’s explanation.

"If George fails to meet the commission in person, he may have to be arrested and brought before us. Though the nun has not given any complaint, suo-motu case will be registered," the letter stated.
 
Earlier, Welfare party had filed a complaint with Kottaya West station, against P C George. But the police replied that they would not be able to register the case since the nun had not filed the complaint.
