Idukki: Joseph and his family along with many others lost their homes in the floods that hit Kerala in August. Many homes were partially destroyed, and hundreds lost their lives. Though there was relief amount granted to people, Joseph and his family say that they haven’t received the relief amount promised to them yet and have thus decided to sell their kidneys.

Joseph wrote on his damaged house wall "We lost our house in the floods. We don’t have the means to survive – Kidney for sale”. He also said to media that the government gave Rs 10,000 to many people whose houses were not even destroyed and claims that his family hasn't received any help from the government yet.
