Karnataka temple prasad tragedy: Chintamani Police arrest cook after 2 women die

Chikkaballapur (Karnataka): The Chintamani city police have filed an FIR against a woman under IPC sections 304A, 338 and 38R/W in the temple prasad tragedy case. The police have taken the accused Amaravati into custody for further investigation. According to sources, preliminary investigation suggests that Amaravati worked as a cook in a hotel.

On Friday, Amaravati prepared Kesaribath as a prasad and was spotted serving outside the Ganga Bhavani temple premises in Chintamani, in Chikkaballapur district in Karnataka. According to the police officials, the reason behind poisoning the food is yet to be ascertained.

Two women died and 11 were hospitalised after consuming the prasad.
