The nationwide strike against the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017, received a lukewarm response in Karnataka. The government-run KSRTC buses were plying as usual while in the capital city Bengaluru, BMTC bus and Metro train services were unaffected. Taxi aggregators like Ola and Uber too did not support the strike as they were seen on the roads on Wednesday (7 August) morning in Bengaluru. Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017, was passed in the Lok Sabha last year and is awaiting the nod in the Rajya Sabha. It proposes drastic changes to the existing Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
