Karnataka: Fishing boat catches fire; 1 dead, 3 critical, 7 injured

Karnataka: On Wednesday, three fishermen were seriously injured when the fire broke out in a fishing boat while returning to the harbour. The incident took place at the Arabian Sea, 6km off Karwar, Uttara Kannada district. The boat belonged to Vamana Harikanthra. It is alleged that the incident happened due to a technical snag. The fire broke out in a Persian boat named Jalapadama, and the boat had more than 20 fishermen. With the help of another fishing boat nearby, the victims were immediately shifted to Karwar medical college hospital.
