Karnataka: Encroachment in Bannerghatta National Park as 20-acre resort comes up on forest land

The 260 sq km Bannerghatta National Park (BNP) near Bengaluru, which is home to elephants, gaur, spotted sambar and barking deer, tiger, leopards, bears and several species of birds, has been encroached upon, once again. A resort named Hasiru Valley in survey number 23, Thammanayakanahalli, Anekal, has allegedly encroached 20 acres of the deemed forest. Karnataka forest department has been running from pillar to post to recover the forest land. Anekal range forest officer has allegedly been turning a blind eye to the illegal activities in BNP.
